Hi guys,

Hopefully tomorrow I will visit the border for changing the landing status of my parent and dependent. I have the general idea that how the things will work there but still if you can share your experiences, that will be really good. Thanks in advance.

Re: Inland Landing Experience? - Rainbow Bridge

I thought inland applicants had to land at a VO, not at a border crossing. Or is Rainbow Bridge a VO?

Actually the application itself was not inland but both the parent and dependent are in Canada right now (Temporary Resident Visas). So they have to visit nearest border to change the landing statuses.

Re: Inland Landing Experience? - Rainbow Bridge

That's not inland then.
As far as I know, you bring the COPR and they ask some questions.

True. Thanks for pointing this out. I have corrected this.

Hi,

My sibling sponsored me and our parent. We are already in CA on temporary resident visas. So now we will be visiting the nearest border to change are landing status. What documents do we have to bring there other than our passports and COPRs? Thanks.

Hi again,

So today we went to Canada-US border (Niagara - Rainbow Bridge - even though the weather was really bad today - SNOW :( ). Both the parent and dependent were already in Canada. The procedure was really smooth and quick. At US immigration toll, we showed our passports and told the guy that we are here for 'Flagpole' and returning back to Canada right away. He directed us to an office and told to stay there and an officer will come to see us shortly. After 5-6 mins, an officer came to our car and gave us a piece of paper (Entry to US refused - this is administratively and there is no rejections stamp on the passports. So it won't effect future US visits). He then told us to take a U-Turn from the gate, give that paper to US immigration toll and then I can go back to Canada side. [Never left the car at US side and it hardly took 15mins there]. At the US immigration toll on our way going back to Canada, we gave the piece of paper received from the US officials, paid C$4.75 fee (don't remember what for) and then went back to Canada side.

At Canada side, we told the guy that we are here to change our landing status. He showed us the way to park the car there and then go inside some building over there. Inside the building, there were many desks with the Canadian Immigration Officers. We went to one of them and told the immigration officer that we got the CoPR and we are here to change the landing status. She kept our passports and CoPRs and told us to wait and she will call us again. After about 30mins (it was lunch time), she called us, asked us to sign on the CoPR infront of her. She then gave one copy of CoPR to each of us and told us that our PR cards will be mailed to us in 6-8 weeks. Meanwhile, we can show these signed copies of CoPR and our passports as a proof of PR and that's it.

So we are landed immigrants now :)

Congratulations. We crossed over at the Queenston/Elizabeth and it was super easy too . The $4.75 was the toll to get back into Canada lol .
