Hi I got the date for my landing interview but my sponsor doesn’t want to attend. Is it really necessary He to be at the landing interview? Even had proof on the file etc ?

Does the invitation letter say it's mandatory? I've heard it doesn't, and that sometimes sponsors don't come along. However - your sponsor just doesn't want to be there? Is there a better reason than that?

(I read one person here, when asked where the sponsor was, said "walking the dog" or something similar)

Is this for landing appointment to finalize PR?

And what type of application? It would say in the letter if the sponsor is required.

If this is an inland application, then yes, he has to be there. If he doesn't attend, you will not be granted PR.

What if sponsor can’t be there because he isn’t in the country (medical leave)?

Shouldn’t the person be in the country especially if they are not working for medical reason. Are they a PR? That would be a bigger problem since they are supposed to remain in Canada. The landing interview is the final proof that the couple remains in a relationship and to make sure there are no other concerns. Unfortunately some relationships have fallen apart at this point but the sponsor hasn’t notified CIC.
