I have 2 questions pertaining to my case.

Question 1:
I have applied to PR through Manitoba PNP, and received a request from CIC today (Jan 11, 2016) for my passport since they want to apply a visa to it.
I applied for PR while on a Post Grad Work Permit, but that work permit expired on Dec 15, 2015. I applied for a Bridging Work Permit in November, but it hasn't come through yet.
Can I still exit/enter Canada on my implied status for landing purposes?

Question 2:
My passport expires in less than 6 months. Even though I can enter/exit Canada through USA for the landing process with a passport that is valid for less than 6 months but valid for my length of stay in USA (found at the "Entering the U.S. - Documents required for Foreign Nationals (International Travelers)" page on the USA Customs & Border Protection website), can I enter Canada with a passport that's valid for less than 6 months for landing purposes?
CIC also requested that my passport be valid for 6 months, but it is just shy under 6 months (10 days to be exact). Can I still proceed with sending my passport to them?

Thanks!

Hi,

Q1- NO - there is nothing implied unless the process is completed and VISA stamped for the border agency

Q2 - for anything fruitful to happen in the future its better the passport is valid for more then 6 months (min 12 months). If i were in your shoes i would have already be in the process of renewal of the passport and then get the VISA applied. Now that you have got the request from CIC you would have 30 days to submit your passport. Also they will not apply the visa on a passport that has less then 6 months validity (i believe).
I think you should request for an extension from CIC and get a new passport ASAP.

I don't understand what you mean when you say "there is nothing implied unless the process is completed and visa is stamped for the border agency"

In this case, I was asking once I have sent in my passport and received my visa, while not having received my Brgiding Work Permit and under implied status, can I still drive to the border, exit and enter back as a landed PR?

I applied for the Bridging Work Permit since I didn't think PR was going to come through before my Post Grad Work Permit expired. But now that PR has come thorugh, and once I get the visa, there should be no reason I can't drive to the border, exit Canada and come back in as a landed PR, correct?

The moment that you cross the border, you lose "implied status". Having said that, when you reenter using your "immigrant visa" and "land", you don't care...
