Dear all,

This is a very helpful forum. People here are motivated to help others which is very encouraging. This forum is with me since I applied from day one and it has helped me a lot. Thank you.

I ll be landing in Canada in 2015 with my family.
I have mentioned ON for settlement in my Application Form for Permanent Residence (PR) FSW.
My sister resides in Quebec and my job prospects (aerospace engineer) are better in Quebec.

I intend to land in Toronto and go to Quebec as soon as I can (within a week or so) (as soon as the rules allow me).
Can I do this?
How much time should I stay in ON before going to Quebec?

Thanks and regards,

You can land in Toronto, complete your landing formalities in Toronto and then straightaway catch the next flight to Quebec for work and settlement.

Thank you for the reply rawdah,

Just one more clarification. What does the word "landing formalities" comprise of.

Does that include Health Insurance too. I have seen many blogs on the internet. It is confusing.
I have read that OHIP takes about 3 months. And what about the address, which have to give for my Cards?

Specifically at which step I can go and should I apply for Health Insurance in Quebec.

Thanks a lot.

If you don't have a CSQ, I think that you are going to have significant problems with this plan. Healthcare being just one of them. If you give an address in Quebec as your settlement, it's possible that you may even be refused "landing" without a CSQ. It seems that you are trying to get into the province via the "back door".

Zardoz, thanks for the reply. But no, I don't mean to and don't need to use any "back door", my friend.

I have a relative in Quebec, but I applied for FSW since it is more general and has broader scope. I am flexible to live any where in Canada, wherever I get a job. But I was just asking for the rules, because in the initial months I want to live in Quebec which would eventually resolve some settlement issues. After I get a job, I can move anywhere.

Also, may I get confirmed answer as to when I will be able to move to Quebec? There are contradicting answers here.

Thank you and regards to all of you.

It is a confirmed answer. You can make a move to Quebec immediately after completing your landing formalities in Toronto. Give the address of Toronto for PR card delivery to be on a safer side.

As a FSW, nothing is stopping you ti work and settle in any province of Canada including Quebec.

Also check settlement.org site for getting answer related to health insurance in Quebec for your case.
