LAMINATION OF WORK PERMIT

Hello guys,

Does it really matter if I laminate my Post Grad Work Permit because of the safety concern. I know it sounds crazy but one of my friend was rejected his BC ID on the basis of lamination and my other friend was told in the USA border to staple his work permit in the passport.

Personal view but when anyone laminates any of these official documents that were not issued as laminated documents there may always be the suspicion they are fakes being disguised by the fact they have been laminated.

There was a similar discussion on another thread where someone was even proposing to copy their PR card and create a laminated copy to us as id, not a good idea. The fact a friend has said laminating anything official can cause issues should be good enough not to even though to keep a document in good shape makes sense.

Better don't do that.

Keep your WP stapled in your passport, you'll need both together.

Of course have a copy/scan of your passport and WP for backup or future applications

Laminating typically invalidates government documents. Don't do it.

i guess the OP did it anyway and now has issues, other people thinking of laminating any official document that is not already laminated or laminating a copy take note http://www.canadavisa.com/canada-immigration-discussion-board/work-permit-lamination-t451298.0.html

Hopefully the guy got sorted out eventually, nothing wrong with just preserving documents in plain simple plastic sleeve.

I have mine in a plastic sleeve with some other important documents. I would never risk laminating an original document that you may have to show to someone in the future. It's just as well kept in a plastic sleeve as long as you are not going to take a bath with it.
