Hi there!

I have a friend who is currently working on an LMIA. However, due to the ongoing virus, she has been laid off from work, as well as most of us here in BC. No definite time when she will be able to go back to work ,for at least 2 months, and was wondering if this will affect her application to apply for BCPNP.

Also, since she has been here since 2018, she will need income and will be applying for EI, and was wondering if this will also affect her application for BCPNP.

Thank you!

If her BCPNP is dependent on her having a job or job offer yes it will impact. If she qualifies for EI she will receive it until the end of her WP.

At this point, no one can say what effect COVID-19 lay-offs will have on things like PNP. There may very well be exceptions given for those who would have otherwise qualified if not for COVID-19.

Being on EI doesn't have any effect on a PR app.

Thank you for your input. Her employer is sponsoring her for her BCPNP and her LMIA. Also, she has a new LMIA for this year for a whole new year. What im concerned about is if she applies for EI, that will be an indication that she lost work due to Covid19 for an X amount of time. And if it gets better, she can still apply for a new application for BCPNP later during her new LMIA.

Hopefully, there will considerations due to this pandemic for applicants.
