Ladies, just curious, did you use your maiden name or married name in your application?

You have to use the name you have on your ID cards, in passport.... :)

Yes, they want you to use the name that's on your passport, so presumably if someone were submitting an application soon after marriage and wanted to use their married name on the application, they'd want to quickly change their passport to their married name first.

I used my maiden name on my application as I'm going to Quebec and they require you to keep your maiden name for all legal purposes. I believe I still could have submitted my PR application with my married name so long as that was shown on my UK passport but I think all I would have ended up with is a PR card and SIN card showing my married name and a driver's licence and health insurance card showing my maiden name, and that doesn't seem like a smart idea.

I am just wondering what's the preferred for many. I went ahead, changed all my IDs, and used my married name. ;D

Did not know this about Quebec, but your decision makes sense. :)

very true :) long ago my mom filled in the forms with the married name (as it is in her passport and other id's) but there r boxes where u need to fill in the maiden name too :)
now for Quebec her main id's r with both maiden and married name....she has also id's with the married name only and with the maiden name only; it's confusing!!!!!!

i would fill in the forms with the name u have currently in the passport just to avoid any confusion for the sake of the application

I used my maiden name on the forms, as it matched my current passport at the time. Then I changed to my married name and sent in a copy of the new passport. Now all my re-do documents came addressed to Mrs. (Maiden Name). Really? ::)

I did not even know this was an isuue... I applied using my married name but this is my second marriage and my passport is still in my first marriage name... it hasnt posed as a problem as yet as I am only the sponsor but all correnspondence from CPC-M has been in my first married name...

LOOOOOL :o :o :o :o
actually in many areas in Ca they r not used to change the name...especially the born raised Canadian ladies :)

Jamgirl, there's no issue actually ;) for them it's clear which one is maiden name, which one from 1st marriage or 2nd...i think for the ladies themselves is more confusing, especially for the ones who come from places where by default (u want or not) u'll have the married name

I mainly used my maiden name, but did put that I did change my name to Parker thanks to my hubby (my maiden name wasn't too lovely :P)

I applied using my maiden name, so that it would match my passport and other documents that were already in my maiden name. Also, it feels weird to change my name when we're not living together yet.

I've had customs officers ask me about the name when I go visit him, though. Probably because my maiden name is very French-Canadian and my husbands name is .... not.
