Hi guys, just wondering if my company wants to sponsor me with LMIA, but I am still under student visa and not finished with my study, is it possible for me to apply for it?
Cheers

Yes - it's possible. However if it happens too soon after you've arrived in Canada on a study permit, the work permit may be refused since IRCC will say that you misrepresented your reasons for coming to Canada on the study permit.

We've seen a few cases like that here.

Thanks for your response.
The course is 2 years program, just been undergoing for 1 year.
So it’s ok to accept the LMIA offer without finishing the full 2 years ?

You should be OK as long as the job is something in a field where you have previous education / work experience.

Thank you Scylla for your response.
My course is business hospitality, which hasn’t finished yet. But the job offer is in a fast food restaurant.
Do you think they’re related and won’t question the IRCC?

Is this a skilled job? Are you paying a consultant or employer anything. You would be much safer finishing your course.

Yes - that sounds somewhat related. If the LMIA is approved, you can certainly try for the work permit.

LMIA could take up to 6 months ...
I've Read that LMIA for express entry will be issued in 10 - 14 days.
Is that true? Or misleading information?
