Hi, good day all,

My sister is planning to hire me as a baby sitter as she is almost due. She would be having the Labor market assessment to have an opening for a foreign worker to be hired as a baby sitter for her daughter. I would like to know how long will it take for me to apply for the job opening, she is a canadian resident, I hope you guys can help me out, thanks a lot :)

She'll need to advertise the role for a month before she submits the LMIA application. Once she submits the LMIA for processing, plan for around 4 months of waiting for the application to be processed.

I assume she is apply for you as a live in caregiver (not as a babysitter). Make sure you meet the requirements for this class of work permit. Also make sure she meets the income requirements and also the living arrangement requirements (i.e. has a big enough apartment or house to accommodate you).

Hi, thank you soooo much for responding so quickly, I would like to know how will she advertise for the role?

I am a registered nurse here in the philippines will that suffice as a requisite for the job?

Your response is greatly appreciated

She has to follow the advertising instructions for the LMIA process.

To qualify as a live in caregiver, you must have at least one year of paid work experience in a related field within the last three years or at least six months of full time training in a related field in the last three years.

Have you worked as a nurse for at least one year full time in the last three years? Or did you finish your education as a nurse within the last three years?

I did some volunteer work for 6 months as a nurse but went ahead to work as a humanitarian aide worker.. working for the Canadian grant for Typhoon Haiyan, I guess I wont fill in for that T_T

Unfortunately the experience has to be paid and a minimum of one year full time. Based on the information you've provided, you don't meet the requirements of the live in caregiver visa.
