Hey!

I am sponsoring my husband, who is Albanian. When labelling photos if I don’t know the exact date is it ok to write

“Agim and I on a gondola in Tirana Albania, late June 2009”

And is that the correct format to write in?

I had:

Applicant and Sponsor on a trip June 2009

Or Applicant meets Sponsor's mother May 2010

Or Sponsor on vacation with Applicants family December 2010

I did not use any names in order not to confuse the IO as a lot of my pics where with family and relatives who we did not list by name either.

The others will tell you how they have done it.

Hi Katie

I did use names but I also put in bracket the relationship for anyone that wasn't us (ie. John and Sue (Kim's mother))

Month and year is fine I'm sure. The other thing I sometimes included was who took the photo (for example my dad took some really nice photos of us so I noted that... or I took photos of my partner with my family so I noted that I was taking the photo)

I printed 4 photos per sheet, and below each of them I wrote names, dates and others details about the occasion.

I wrote on the back of each:

From L-R (named everyone in the photo -from left to right - first and last name)
Location (city & country)
Date (Month & Year)

I didn't write the relationship of the individuals in the photo to us, nor did I emphasize the occasion.

(Mind you both my partner and I have our original last names so it is pretty easy to match up the families)

I used the dates when it seemed important to know them (birthday celebrations, my sponsor's sister's wedding and such), but for most pictures I just used month and year, location and who took the picture.

I also used first names to describe photos, but each page they were printed on head a header (lol) saying XXX, applicant and YYY, sponsor.

This way is fine. Some people use a more formal system, using full names and sponsor/applicant. Others just use sponsor/applicant; or just the names. Any way is OK as long as it is clear to the VO who the people in the photos are, roughly when they were taken (the exact date is not necessary, but include it if you know it), and why they were taken - i.e., what was the occasion.
So any of these would be fine:
Agim and I on a gondola in Tirana, Albania, late June 2009.
Agrim Smith and Jean Jones on a gondola ...
Agrim Smith, the applicant, and Jean Jones, the sponsor, on a gondola ...
The applicant and sponsor on a gondola ...

I personally prefer the "Agrim and I" labels. It sounds more personal to me; it is easier to read; and by this point in the application the visa officer should be well aware of who the applicant and sponsor are.
