Hey so I've read alot of threads about this and was wondering if gaining a trp would help me overcome inadmissibility.
I've only completed 1 year of my sentence and my gf is planning on going back go canada at the end of the year. I understand Dui is very serious and it was a d*** move on my part.

Any advice is welcome.
Cheers

What was your BAC? How much more of your sentence do you have to go and what is it?

Note that a TRP (if approved) generally only allows you to visit Canada while you are inadmissible. It generally doesn't allow you to move here.

It was .10 I believe. In nz first offence is only 6 months. I've completed the 6 months and fines. And a year has passed since my suspension. I understand it's not a permanent means to live there also. But in some cases trps can be re-extended ?

Yes - sometimes they can be extended.

There's no harm in trying to apply for the TRP. You have nothing to lose and everything to gain.

I suppose this is gonna be rather hit and miss, but like you said alot to gain.
Also if you could help me out on how I go about acquiring a trp?

Yes - it's hit and miss. No guarantee of approval. Instructions on how to apply are here:

https://www.canada.ca/en/immigratio...admissibility/temporary-resident-permits.html

You would also be wise to spend time reading through historical threads on this forum related to TRP applications to see how others have applied / what they have included.
