my family friend, his kid is in Canada now and kid's pr card expired. School board does not allow his registry saying that the kid needs renew pr card first. it does not sound fair. anyone has similar experience? thanks

There is no law that states that you must have a PR card to live in Canada but sometimes government will ask for it anyway. They can ask the school board to show them the law that says they must have a valid PR card to enroll in school. They will have a problem with that. They could say that they already applied to renew but they got an RQ and may not see results until 2 years (by which time kid meets residency requirements again if he didn't before and they can renew normally). They could also move to another school district and try there.
