Hi there,

Am about to start the spon. process from outside canada but i just want to ask a general quest.:

if my wife (the sponsor) is a student in canada , can i apply for a visitor visa to accompany her and stay with her during her study period ? & if yes can i apply for a work permit too?

Thanks.

In my idea no you can't apply. Embassy will refuse your application.

Just lets see what members writing their comments.

You mean your wife is in Canada and she is a student right. why don't you tell her to find a job there part time and work, i think if she has some money i am sure she can sponsor you.

As a spouse applying for immigration, your wife doesn't have a financial requirement to meet. She just has to not be in legal bankruptcy, and not be in receipt of social benefits (which student loans are NOT). Therefor, she can sponsor you as a spouse.

Thirstydeer is correct. However, although your spouse can sponsor you, you may not legally work in Canada until you have a Permanent Resident Visa or 'AIP'
