Have a question to ask, me and my wife don't have a joint bank account, do we have to have a joint account? we intend to have one when were both working in Canada but at the moment we dont

No you don't have to. It just another proof that you could add if you felt it's needed to help prove your relationship.

What's easier (and what we did) is if one of you already has a credit card, call up that company and ask them to send you a supplementary 2nd card in the other person's name. Usually this is free and super quick to do. They will get their own card with unique number, but both names appear on 1 bill so it's practically a "joint" financial account that you could submit with your application. And a heck of a lot easier than setting up joint chequing account at the bank.
