Jobs on Student Visa??

My friend is in Edmonton(Alberta) in NAIT college from 2 yrs and doing job on construction site ,Its a really hard work but earning good money , he says he took his college fees from work ,even 2nd semester fees he has earned from work, since he don't have off campus work permit after reaching there in first 6 months ,but still he works

He also told me that he has chosen only 3 subjects in each semester and pays only 1100*3 = 3300 CAD fees

however , pay rate is also high in Alberta as compared to Toronto and Vancouver ,But there is no work in December and January due to biting cold .

Do you have any idea on how hard the construction work is, if you never done this kinda of job in your life its very difficult for you to cope up.
Also the chances of injury are high, since it sometimes involves heavy lifting, On top of that since you don`t have any medical insurance if you get injured, it will mess up your career, Also note that medical is very expensive in Canada.

may be this work is hard , but man life is not bed of roses
If we are dreaming of Canada , we must also have sufficient will to come it true.In other jobs there is not such income that can overcome your day to day expenses as well semester fees .

I think instead of asking your dad to give money again and again in Canada ,and empty there bank balances , its better way to do some hard work and earn yourself.

Well other jobs are also there like: on petrol pumps, mc D , deliveries , courier etc.

did ur friend got caught? bec. he dont have work permit and still he works, i've read somewhere in this forum that if you work w/o work permit, you can be deported.

friend there is a huge population of people doing work on cash,and More over who has time to catch ?

he may be deported if caught but He says hundreds of students are doing jobs on cash .

And also you are not deported immediately after you caught ,there is warning first time ,

So take risk of your own of doing job, police is more active in toronto and vanc. side to catch people .

Not true. I know of situations where departure orders were issued immediately and the student visa canceled. No warning was given.
