Can an Indian CA expect to get a job in Canada till I clear my CPA? What kind of jobs could I look at? Will I have to live frugally till I complete my CPA. Could someone please help me on this?

Assuming you come as a PR or qualify for some kind of open work permit, you can of course get unskilled service/labour jobs driving a delivery truck, at Tim Hortons, etc. In a major city like Toronto or Vancouver you would have to live extremely frugally. Once you pass the CPA exam your prospects improve but employers still prefer candidates who already have Canadian experience in their field.

Hi Primaprime,
Thank you for your response. I have another question if you could comment on it?

What are the chances of an Indian CA getting a provincial nomination and which province is good for accountants?

Thank you

The chances depend entirely on your suitability as a candidate and ability to meet a province's requirements, such as by getting a job offer. NOC 1111 (accountants) is in-demand in Nova Scotia and Manitoba. Saskatchewan has 1311 (bookkeepers) on their list.

If you have accounting experience you can try for junior level accounting jobs in Canada. You don't need a CPA to get a junior level accounting/payroll field jobs in Canada.

You definitely can get entry level accounting jobs upon moving here. Try to start the CPA process asap as just adding "CPA Candidate" will boost your resume. Most jobs are in Ontario but obviously competition is higher here as well.
