I have a question about immigration in reference to job title. Case is as below:

Case:
I have joined a company. The designation mentioned on offer letter is "Software Engineer". After almost one year, my designation across all profiles like Payslips, HR letter (or any other letter issues by company) is updated as "BFS Software Engineer" where BFS is Business Unit name which stands for Banking Finance Services.
This is just a tile change and no promotion. There isn't any letter from HR team for changing/updating designation.

Problem:
How would I convince/provide sufficient evidence to Case officer that this is just an title change. I have to provide reasonable evidence as my designation differs in Offer Letter and Payslips (and will also on my service certificate).

Please guide me in resolving this issue.Looking forward to your response.

Have you received correspondence requesting an explanation or is this just a speculation on your part?

Can you get a reference letter from your org highlighting the job responsibilities for both roles and start and end date for both roles ?

Hi, Thanks for response. I cannot get referral letter from my company as the format is not supported. However, I can get referral letter from my senior on notarized stamp paper. Should I mention all this in the referral letter that, my title was changed? Or should I mention two roles in referral letter. Please guide.

Have you checked with your HR officer that they do not support practice of issuing the letter? You can show them the requirement from CIC, that is for genuine purposes of immigration for you in the future.
You are require to mention the following in the letter:
-Your name(obvious)
-Number of working hours per week(30 hours and above per week are considered for full time employment)
-Salary per/year(or can be in months)(in your local currency)
-Benefits if any(e.g. healthcare/bonus etc...)
-Job title# 1 - start date and end date
- Roles and responsibilities in this role
-Job title# 2 - start date and end date(if this is your present role, mention end date as "Present")
- Roles and responsibilities in this role

You can get your senior to sign off this letter, but, ideally get this on the company letter head, which provides office location, contact details etc., which will ensure the CIC officer looking at application is assured that this work experience is genuine, else they end up getting other ideas...

Thanks for response. My immigration consultant pointed it out and it makes sense for me.
Your consultant is just being cautions. Chances your case officer would find this an issue are slim to none. Basically a non-issue.

If you want to present this in your reference letter, there is a format for this which you list the job titles with dates first and then list duties and responsibilities for the complete period without having to repeat or explain anything. It looks more simple this way and solves your title problem (if it's a problem that is).

Title #1 Software Engineer from start date to X
Title #2 BFS Software Engineer from X till Present

Duties and responsibilities from start date till Present
- 1
- 2
- 3
- ..etc
