1. Under general supervision, perform more detailed design
2. Become familiar with Codes and Standards
3. Perform and check the most routine types of calculations and design using both computer-aided and manual design techniques
4. Work with vendor data and with personnel in other disciplines as required for the performance of designs
5. Perform squad check of vendor data and drawings from other disciplines.
6. Assist Lead Engineer, as required

Main duties

Mechanical engineers perform some or all of the following duties:

- Conduct research into the feasibility, design, operation and performance of mechanisms, components and systems
- Plan and manage projects, and prepare material, cost and timing estimates, reports and design specifications for machinery and systems
- Design power plants, machines, components, tools, fixtures and equipment
- Analyze dynamics and vibrations of mechanical systems and structures
- Supervise and inspect the installation, modification and commissioning of mechanical systems at construction sites or in industrial facilities
- Develop maintenance standards, schedules and programs and provide guidance to industrial maintenance crews
- Investigate mechanical failures or unexpected maintenance problems
- Prepare contract documents and evaluate tenders for industrial construction or maintenance
- Supervise technicians, technologists and other engineers and review and approve designs, calculations and cost estimates.

Just wanted to ask how a person having mechanical engineering & a masters also having the 67 points from the 100 points allotted for permanent residency, can apply for the PR ? after JAN'2013 as the mechanical engineering is not included in the new skill list....look forward to hear from you all.

so far I know... FSW does not have Mechanical Engineer in list.... But CEC has it... check the job matrix

yep it is in the CEC list....so anyone has an idea of the CAP system limiting to few hundreds per profession, which is going to be implemented from next year.

Honestly, this does not sound like an engineer to me, suggest looking a t 2232 or 2231 instead (both are still classified as "skilled")

2232 and 2231 works are for technologist... but I work as a mechanical designer

I also consulted with immigration specialist of my office and they said it is the usual one they provide if any body asks for it...
