Hi,
I am applying to immigration FSW under catg. 1.. i got 4 years experience as assistance cook and my duties were some of (6242 Cooks NOC) under 38 qualified list jobs. but i don't have college program in this field, i just got trained by the restaurant .
So my question is..is there a problem ?

and what that means..
* Trade certification is available but voluntary in all provinces and Territories.

* Interprovincial trade certification (Red Seal) is also available to qualified cooks.

i read them on Employment Requirements on NOC website (6242 Cooks)

so please i need your help.

for your first question it does not matter, they don't match between your job experience and your employment requirments :

"not take into account whether the applicant meets the “Employment requirements”
description set forth in the NOC for the occupation(s) listed;

award points only if the applicant has performed the actions described in the lead statement
of the particular NOC description and has performed at least a substantial number of the
duties described in the “Main Duties” summary – including all the essential duties (R80(3));"

as in the link : http://www.cic.gc.ca/EnGLIsh/resources/manuals/op/op06-eng.pdf

page 30

One more question... should i send an original of reference letter/employment verification OR a copy ?

as they state at the Visa Office Specific instructions it must be original reference letters :

"For you and your spouse or common-law partner:
• notarized employment contracts from your present and past employers,
accompanied by an English or French translation
• original and up-to-date letters of reference from your past and current employers.
Letters must be written on company letterhead and show the company's full
address, telephone and fax numbers, and be stamped with the company's official
seal."

have a look at the link and choose the visa office responsible on your country to check the requirements exactly for the second stage of your application (at the bottom of the page):

thanks..
my country visa office says ..
• notarized employment contracts from your present and past employers,
accompanied by an English or French translation
• original and up-to-date letters of reference from your past and current employers.
Letters must be written on company letterhead and show the company's full
address, telephone and fax numbers, and be stamped with the company's official
seal.

i don't have original of my employment contracts, my old employer keep the original, i have only photocopies of it....actually i left my work 2 years ago... so what should i do ?

However,
I downloaded PDF checklist of my country visa office and it says in the top

Gather documents as listed. Check () each applicable item on the checklist and attach the checklist to your
documents (a paper clip will do). Place all the documents in a sealed envelope. Do not send originals. Send
photocopies of all documents, except the police fingerprint certificates and the police certificates, which
must be originals. If your documents are not in English or French, send a notarized (certified) translation
with a copy of the originals.

i am confused now..

may i know which visa office exactly is responsible on processing applications of your country ?

because i think that you might have escaped a part of the statment which is "unless otherwise stated"

i think the complete statment is :

"Gather documents as listed. Check () each item on the checklist and attach the checklist to your
documents (a paper clip will do). Place all documents in a sealed envelope. Do not send originals unless
otherwise stated
. Send notarized photocopies of all documents except the police certificates, which must be
originals. If your documents are not in English or French, send a notarized (certified) translation with a copy
of the originals"

that is why am asking you which visa office do you belong to ?

yes i see, but they still ask for originals in that regard when they explain the details:

original and up-to-date letters of reference from your past and current employers.
Letters must be written on company letterhead and show the company's full
address, telephone and fax numbers, and be stamped with the company's official
seal.

however, if it is really impossible for you to send the originals because you don't have them, send at least certified copies with an explanation letter justifying the reason to the embassy.(i know that if you don't have the originals, you will not even be able to certify the photocopy) in such a situation you don't have any choice except of sending those photocopies with the explanation letter.

my advice is :

try to do your best to get originals from your employer (if that is impossible);

send an email to the embassy before submitting your application to explan your situation exactly and am sure that they will answer you.( i have done that three times without file number or application under processing and they answered me via email).

this is their email address for general inquiries : cairo-im-enquiry@international.gc.ca

don't send them more than one email and wait for the answer, it might take up to three weeks to answer you
