Dear Friends,

I am a Chemical Technologist from India and filed a PR application.

Can you guys please help/suggest me in getting a job in Canada?

Regards,

Shrinivas

Hi Shrinivas,

Wish you a great success to your PR application!

I have just started preparing for FSW visa application. I wrote my IELTS exam and my scores are L/R/W/S - 6.5/8.5/7/7. I am just preparing to access my educational qualification and work experience.

To answer your question, I found the following information based on my search on the internet:
Don't come to Canada unprepared and start applying for jobs the minute you land. Most likely a potential employer will tell you that, while your skills are impressive, you have "no Canadian experience." They worry that you won't have good interpersonal skills, understanding of Canadian workplace culture, ability to work as a team, language proficiency or skills and training. To get this "experience" you can volunteer for example or job shadow a working professional.

Hope the above information will be useful to you!

Thanks dear...yes, even I have come across the same info. Now, our first goal should be to file the complete application to CIC so that we could obtain PER (the first milestone that must be achieved). If we get the PR, it will be up to our fates to get a job in Canada.

Let's see what happens. All the best! :)

Shrini,

I hope you must have submitted your job referral letter to prove your experience for FSW visa application. May I know, whether a referral letter from my present employer alone is sufficient. Reason, I am working for the same company for more that 6 years. It's been very long time I spoke to anyone in my previous companies and it is difficult to approach anyone now.

Can you also tell me whether the following format is sufficient for proving my job experience:
"TO WHOM SO EVER IT MAY CONCERN
Mr.XXXX is currently working as Lead Process Engineer at ABC Company, Chennai, India. He is a global resource who is virtually reporting to Mr.XXX. He is a full-time permanent employee who joined ABC Company as ‘Process Engineer II’ on (Date) in Chennai, India. He has been promoted to ‘Lead Process Engineer’ effective (Date). In addition, Mr.XXXX is certified as a ‘XXXXXXX XXXX XXXX’ for demonstrating technical skill sets and fulfilling training requirements of XXXXX Training Course.
During his stay in this organization, his roles and responsibilities are as follows:
1) .......................
2) .......................
3) ......................
I make the solemn declaration that the statement contained in this declaration is true in every particular."

Hi Kardivjah,

The format is pretty good and I used the same one. However, you need to request your employer to include your 'working hours/week', 'salary/annum' (in INR of course) and your main 'job duties' (remember, the job duties have to be in the language that CIC wants) and we (you or your employer) must not crunch the language.

Secondly, I also requested my past employers to give me a 'letter of experience' but they refused. So what I did was, I included my 'letter of experience/relieving letters' from my past employers. I don't know how CIC will take it. But, I did not have any other choice.

All the best :) !

Shrini,

May I know how you convinced your employer to get your referral letter?

Generally, we could not tell them that we are applying for some immigration visa, right? :-X

Actually, I told him the reality but lied a little bit by saying the PR process is a long one and it takes about 3-4 years. So he got convinced. Same thing you can tell your employer. It should work, let us hope. Remember one thing, if your lie is of serious kind you may need to lie again and again to hide your earlier lies.

All the best!

Shrini,

I thought, I can tell my employer that I am trying for professional engineer status so need it.

The referral letter from employer means my supervisor/lead (or) my HR manager. Should that also include other information like salary and work hours in a week and etc? or can I produce my salary slip as an evidance of Pay information?

Based on your experience, can you suggest me whether I can process my application myself or approach any consultant to do that?

One other thing I have noticed in your profile. You filed your application exactly on my birthday (18/01). :)

Wish you a successful FSW visa...!

Hey dear...wish you a belated Happy Birth Day :).

Yes, you should include your working hours/week, your CTC on the company letter head with the seal of your company and signature of your authorised officer, and a pay slip (which I forgot to send with my application, bit tense now). Never approach any consultant as they will just loot you. After getting their fees, they will consider you as a 'needy' person and you will need to beg for their assistance later. This forum is great. People are extremely generous in extending their genuine help with out any expectations. So, I will suggest not to appoint any consultant. From my side, I will help you all the way as much as I can.

You can send 'employee provident fund' as one of your proof of funds. Please feel free to ask for any more info. All the best! :)

Hi Dude,

Did your application succeed? I just noticed that Chemical Engineering has reach the cap for 2013-2014. :o

May be, I should wait till 1-May-14 to submit my application. Hope they will have Chemical Engineering in their demanded profession list for 2014-2015. Should cross my fingers... ???

hey cardivjah,

I do not have any clue about my application as yet. mode of payment of my fees is DD, so unlike CC we hardly get to know about the status of DD payment.
