Hi everyone,

Does anyone has an idea that how Canadian authorities are matching Job responsibilities with the one mentioned under NOC.

Is it done by manual checking or do they have any system which match the similar words and provide result.

Please assist.

Hi,

If I were in CIC I would have developed such an algorithm to provide agents with advice and smart search features. But I'm still sure that they read all your responsibilities thoroughly, analyze them and decide whether they match or not.

Sorry, I haven't actually answered your question but I think even if they use some automation it is unavailable for us.

No problem dear but thanks for reply on my post.

Take Care!

Hi Roman,

Could you please let me know about the difference between the cover letter and the reference letter?

Cover letters are as important to your job application as your CV and yet they are often rushed out as an afterthought. This is your chance to show recruiters why you'd be good at the job and get them interested.

An employment reference letter is a letter from an employer about an employee's qualities. An employment reference letter can be written by co-workers, customers, vendors and colleagues.

COVER LETTER
A cover letter is a single-page letter that should be part of any job application. The only time a cover letter should not be included is when a job ad clearly says to NOT include one. At all other times you should include a cover letter.

REFERENCE LETTER
A reference letter is a letter in which someone assesses another person’s skills and capabilities, usually in a positive way.

Hi,

Generally these notions are explained above by other forum members.

In terms of FSW applications, however, cover letter is an extra info you would like CIC to know, e.g. explanation of some discrepancies in your documents, gaps, complications, spelling issues, absence of some supporting docs and so on. Whereas reference letter is a strict format letter from your employer complying with all CIC standards and requirements.

thank you both,

so it is not a necessary document, right?
can it influence the application or not?

Thanks for the info RomanSPb! Can you share the cover letter you used in your application? Thanks in advance.

It is very case specific and personal, it won't help you at all. Just put at "COVER LETTER" title and start with "Dear Sir/Madam," just as usual then say why you are writing this letter (to provide additional information on some sections to be clarified) and stuff like that. I got the sample letter on the internet, I'll share a link with you if I manage to find it a bit later.
