Hello Members,

I currently have a NAFTA engineer work permit tied to a specific employer valid until mid 2017. Unfortunately the job is ending early.

- Once I am no longer working for the employer stated on the permit does my legal status in Canada end?
- I know I won't be able to work for anyone else without getting a new work permit but will I be allowed to remain in Canada or would I receive a departure order?
- If I leave Canada will I be able to re-enter on the basis of the work permit in question?

Thank You!

1. No, it is valid until the work permit expires.
2. Yes, see #1
3. Yes, but it can be iffy, if the CBSA office determines that you are no longer working, s/he may question your entry.
