i am applying for express entry and my question is in relation to the work exp reference letter requirement. i worked in a big global audit company as a finance analyst for 4 years in uk. the company is able to provide details on company letter head about the dates of work, job title, hours etc and salary but it is unable to provide my job duties and responsibilities. it is against their policy and all my managers and team members have refused me to provide letters because company has forbidden them not to. In these circumstances will it be sufficient if i provide company letter head with details about the dates, job title, salary etc and a letter from company that they cannot provide duties and resp? please advise. thanks

From their side its enough. But you should ask one of your coleagues to confirm your duties and notarize it.

Job duties are needed. PERIOD.

CIC need your job duties to match them with the NOC code you have selected. They understand that some companies do not provide job duties so they are bit flexible on the source of job duties.

Try to convince any of your colleague to write a simple letter mentioning your job duties. If a colleague is writing your job duties then even job duties mentioned on plan paper works. Even in this case it would be great of you can provide any communication from your employer denying you giving job duties. In my case my HR replied me that company policy do not allow they to provide a reference letter with job duties so i asked one of my colleague to provide me job duties on a plain paper and i also attached the mail from HR to prove that i first tried to get the job duties from the company.

As mentioned in above post, do not forgot to notarize the job duties letter from your colleague

Thanks very much for your replies

unfortunately some of my colleagues have left the firm and i cant locate where they are. some others are in the firm but they have told me that they cant help me because HR has instructed them not to. the title of my job (financial analyst) matches the NOC code titles. i dont know what other options do i have except that i can provide them with original HR letter stating that they cannot provide job duties etc.

are there cases where people applications have been approved without providing job duties?

See CIC need job duties so i would still insist that you try to make any of your colleague even any who have left the company. Try to find your previous colleagues on Facebook / LinkedID etc. Job Duties are NEEDED !!!!!

Also CIC will not send the letter from your colleague to your company to verify the job duties, so tell your colleague that no one in company will find out if they have given you the letter
