Hi ,

There is this perfect job posted . The job posting is open until the 24th of April .

I have sent my PP to CHC ND for stamping on the 1st of April .

Can I apply for the job before I get my Visa stamped ? The 1st question in the online submission is "Are you eligible to work in Canada"
Can I say "Yes" to that before I get my Visa ?

I don't want to give misleading info and blow my chances of applying later for some other position with this company.

Pls advice

Thanks :)

You can apply but say NO that you are not eligible to work in Canada.

Now in your covering letter, you mention that even though I am not eligible for canada but my PR process is in Final stage and probably I will get my PR soon.

Mention this...

canadp

If I say NO there , the system wont shortlist me as I have not met the primary condition ..
As I understand the system shortlists ppl based on basic conditions being met and resume containing key words .
Now if I dont get shortlisted , no one is even going to look at my cover letter .. :(

Can I have some more views pls ..

Thanks

Fill in YEs! and explain in your cover letter that your passports are in the process of being stamped for the PR and you will be legally eligible by (so and so) date. That's if you have an exact date or give an estimation of maybe 1 month!?

This way you will get screened initially, they will have an opportunity of reading your cover letter and then its upto their dicretion what they decide to do with your application. Good Luck though! Hope it works out for you.

Or even maybe if you can call up their HR department and explain to them your situation or request to speak with the Hiring Manager and tell them that you will soon be a Canadian resident and eligible to work but not before the job application deadline. Emphasize on how interested you are to apply and ask them if you can check yourself as being eligible to work in the application. and then do what they recommend. This way when they look at your application, you'll be a little step ahead as the Hiring Manager would remember you and would want to look carefully at your application. Your call is going to prove how interested you are in the job and their Co.

Hope this helps... Good Luck

Dear anushauc

No Harm in trying for the Job. Say yes and apply. Looking at the feed back that we have from forum and from other social networking sites it is tough to get a call if you do not have Candian Experience, so if at all you get a call you can explain later that VISA is under processing and provide them a rough estimate when it will be available

Thanks :) I have applied for the job today and mentioned in the cover letter abt my legal status .
I got my RPRF receipt y'day .. Hoping the PP will follow soon :)

Thanks again .. Will let u know if something comes of the application .
