yes you can evaluate urself, try to take an avg price of all your jewelery... Most imp, make sure u take the pictures of all your jewelery and show them to the airport authorities after landing in canada. Disclose all.

hi, its a great work u r doin here. sincere appreciations to this but i wud like to do a little bit editing here. as far as evaluation of jewellery is concerned then go to a certified jeweller and then ask to evaluate the gold both in indian rupees(or ur currency) and in dollars (cad) too. then get a certificate of the same and with photos of the jewellery. now ur work is complete. evaluation by self holds no legal value. hope it helped

regards
jacob

Jewelry valuation;
can u self evaluate the jewels for goods to carry??

Did they verify from your bank about your current bank balance which you mentioned? if yes then they can ask you about the funds to be mentioned at airport.

I have also same case , bcs i have mentioned funds availabale but i thjink i would show jwelary at the time of traveling but my some frineds told me to avoid gold instead of showing money

thanks for the info...
self valuation was the best, avoids the hassile of going to the jeweler :'(
do the regular jewelers help in getting the valuation done?
will the original receipts of the jewelry be of any use?
