We mailed off our application on January 14th, its February 19th now.
and We were asked for Police Check and Schedule A, on Feb ~10, which is normal I guess.
So we uploaded those, then we were asked for Medical, which we will do tomorrow.
And I was approved as sponsor.

It's been a month, everything seems to be happening quickly, is this normal?
Its good I guess, but I thought it would be more spread out.

Is your application inland or outland? Which visa office?

This seems about what I would expect. I think the thing that's going to vary the most is how quickly medical will be requested once it gets to the VO after sponsor approval. If it's a VO that normally processes in under 12 months, they'll probably ask right away. Which begs the question of why people couldn't still do them up front if they chose, and not make the VO waste time requesting it in the first place. Especially if their goal is on average to process applications in under 12 months except in the case of applications that are not routine. The vast majority of people in those cases would be able to submit with an upfront medical, providing they didn't do the medical exam a large amount of time prior to mailing their application. But they could get around that by simply saying if you do an upfront medical exam it needs to have been done within X amount of days at the time the application was mailed.

It's not that anything is actually happening faster than it was before, from what I can tell. We'll know for sure when DMs for the PAs start popping up for people using the new kit who didn't have upfront medical that they'd already included. But, for instance, I did my medicals up front and it immediately showed up as passed in MyCIC. No intervention needed on my part, and one of the first things I was able to see.

I did my medical upfront since I applied inland using the old application and also I sent my police records as well. Hope they process my application fast since they have everything at their disposal and its a fairly routine application.... we ll see as the year goes along

Same with mine, app received dec 7th and all approved by mid dec. med was already done, resent copy of new passport and got a message on jan 19 that everything is ready for processing
Been waiting since....
