My boyfriend and I received our ITA today, expected as we're on 495 points. We were planning on declining a few times to buy us more time (for an FBI check and to get finances together). But now the system seems to be changing we're unsure whether to just take the ITA now or risk it and decline.

Can anyone confirm...

1) Do I have the full 60 days to decline, or do I have to do it sooner?
2) Can anyone confirm the changes to points under skills transferability? We currently have 88 on that (CLB 10, 1 year CWE, 2 years FWE), but the way it's now described makes me think we might drop to 75?
3) I'm confused by the medical requirements. It's valid for 1 year, but still has to be valid for 6 months when you submit? And that would mean you had to enter Canada immediately after that?
4) If we apply now, have to ask for an extension for his FBI check, then it comes back as his fingerprints not being accepted and he has to apply again for that, what happens? Is our application rejected?

Thanks guys. Sorry for all the questions.

I'll lose 5 points next week too as I have a birthday.

Any thoughts?

1- You can do it whenever you like
2- No changes in skill transferability, your score wont change because of it.
3- Let's say you submit your application with 7 months left of validity. Assuming you get your PR in 6 months you would have one month to land.
4- I wouldnt apply without the PCC

Cheers ;)

Thanks. It seems so wrong declining!!

Has anyone had an FBI check come back as rejected fingerprints and successfully got an extension for another one?

Yes I have heard of cases where people got extension twice. Just attach receipts and a proper LOE should work.

Btw remember that if you decline and get an ITA next draw you will have 90 days to submit your application.

Cheers :)

That's our other main reason for declining now! I just don't want to end up in a stupid situation where we decline and then don't get another ITA due to the new system (and my birthday).

Yeah, I just thought for some reason that you had to decline within a week if you were going to. I'm obviously wrong.

So I think we'll stick it out for a bit without declining, and if scores are super high after the changes, then apply (though it'll be a rush to get medicals & bank statements from the UK!). If they stay low, we'll decline and re-enter in December, giving us the extra time we need for the FBI check and to get financial stuff sorted, which will be much easier when we're back in the UK in Jan.

Thanks for the advice guys.
