All,

Please join this thread for reporting and discussing timelines after the Invitation to Apply has been received in the first draw.

10000 Invitations will be mailed to apply PR for Parents and Grand-Parents under Family Class Sponsorship.

Good luck to all.

The online application process was closed on 3rd February 2017.

A draw will happen out of a pool of sponsor candidates, those who were willing to apply PR for their parents/grand-parents under Family Class Sponsorship and submitted their sponsor profile prior to midnight 3rd February 2017.

A total of random 10000 ITAs will be sent to such sponsoring candidates, then they can apply for PR for their parents/grand-parents.

Good luck to all.

has anybody received any email communication from CIC?

After completing the form I was given a confirmation on the screen, but never received an email (CIC didnt specify that they will email after receiving our form)

Moreover, I do know that CIC will email in any case (lucky draw or NOT) after choosing/inviting 10,000 applications.

I was just getting anxious so that is why I wanted to confirm if someone has received any email communication from CIC or not. (I keep thinking I might have typed my email address incorrectly!)

Not yet, but I would request all to please update the forum regarding any such communication.

Thanks.

I did not receive a confirmation email after submission either (most likely such an email was not configured into the submission application). No word from CIC since the online application form closed last week.

All to best

I did not received a mail either, it was just a web confirmation with a number.

Hoping for the best for all!

I do not believe they will send any email! All official communication from the CIC will only from NORMAL POSTAGE as they need to ensure only people with the valid local Canadian address receive the letter

It says on their website that they will email either selected or not, so should receive notification once they finish their lottery.

That is correct! All possible fingers crossed.

Anybody knows roughly how long it takes to actually get a response?

This is happening for the first time. Things will get ckear eventually.

Seems like the draw will happen at the end of the 30 day period starting from 3rd February, 2017.

I guess this gap is to prune the applicants so that none of the 10,000 invites gets wasted on an Incomplete/Invalid or unqualified applicant.

I hope I am wrong, either way, we have to wait a little more.

How could they possibly determine this from just the lottery application?

All they are checking for is duplicate entries and that's it.

I did not filled the form, not qualified since I do not have 3 years tax returns. My brother applied so I do not know what exactly were the questions. My apologies if I assumed incorrectly.

I thought they would have asked questions related to the eligibility of the sponsor, status, finances etc.

Moreover, if they just need to remove duplicates, that cannot be the reason for the delay. That is just a matter of a simple query. Anyways, nobody knows yet, what is happening.

That would have been the smart and most effective way to run the lottery. But this is CIC, so of course that didn't happen.

They have absolutely no way of determining if a lottery applicant is eligible or not. They will not find out until they submit an actual application, or what will probably happen in most cases is the lottery winner will not even bother to submit an app since they know they don't qualify.
