Hi all!

My uncle arrived in Canada last week and he was only issued a 1 year work permit from the date of entry (port of entry: Vancouver) it will expire by September 2010 but he has a two year job contract from his employer and we are expecting that he will be issued a 2 year work permit valid until September 2011. His job code fell to low skilled worker category - general farm labourer. Is this correct? Should we do something to make his work permit expiry date unitl September 2011? We are just wondering why. Please if there's someone who can clarify this that would be great! Thanks in advance :-)

Call CIC and ask about it. From what I've heard, with the economy, it's been getting more common to only get a one year permit but he shouldn't have a problem extending it later on.

But he would need a new LMO.
