I'm hoping there is some sage advice out there on this:
My foreign wife has been visiting me in Canada on TRV visa's for almost 2 years now while her permanent residency application made it's slow way through the CIC system. Last January we went back to her home country and applied for another TRV, which was approved. We then got a letter from the mission that handles immigration for her home country (the mission in Singapore, far, far away from her home country) asking she get a re-med + send her passport for her Permanent Residency Visa. So we did that and a month later had a PR Visa in her passport also.
So she now has an valid TRV from the Cnd embassy in her home country + a PR Visa in her passport from the Cnd mission in Singapore and has a ticket to fly to Canada March 9th. One of her friends oversea's claims this will be an issue when she "lands" in Canada and tries to Immigrate. This has gotten her terribly upset and afraid of what will happen to her when she lands in Canada and goes to Immigration.
I have a hard time understanding why Singapore wouldn't have just stamped "cancelled" across the TRV when they issued her a PR Visa if two visa's was an issue, but since it took almost 2 years to get her a PR Visa, nothing would surprise me about CIC's processes.
Is there anyone out there with knowledge as to whether having a TRV + a PR Visa in a foreign passport is a problem on landing and trying to Immigrate to Canada?
