Hello Members,

I wanted to know if it is possible to change from Post Graduate Diploma to Under Graduate Diploma after reaching Canada?? I will be applying for visa for a Post Graduate Diploma.

u can but why do u want to do that? also remember keep a back up plan just in case if things dont turnup the way ur planning. I believe this is a loop hole in the system and if it shuts down be prepared.

Thank you so much for your reply. I want to do that because,

* firstly... I want to study an Accounting course which is of two years length so that I get a 3 year PGWP. I know there are some PG diplomas which are of two years but there aren't any in Douglas College and they only refund 50% of fees in case you want to leave that college. I will loose $7500 if I do that.
* secondly, I have been advised that in order to get a solid foundation in accounting in Canada, I should start from the bottom, that is, a UG level diploma or UG degree, I will choose a diploma that is transferable to a good university.
* Thirdly, my brother in Canada advised me that one year PG diplomas with Foreign degrees (Indian,etc) are not much respected or valued by employers and they feel we are over qualified for entry level jobs in accounting. I feel this is somewhat true.

Those are my reasons.

yes u can. its allowed under cic rules unless immi officer puts a restriction at the POE. but also yes mead is correct have a backup plan B course (PG) which ull readily undertake if God forbid they change the rule or put a restriction.

What kind of restriction can an immigration officer put at the POE?? I have never heard of this thing before.

That you need to ask youself..

Do u wana break this intention to the IO at POE ??
I wud not if I was you..

It would be best to get in clean.. get your study permit.. get in there..
then work out the change if u still feel you should do it..

It will never be a good idea to put such stuff in front of the IO at POE..
u feel me ???

It is totally legal and NOT FISHY to do what you are trying to do here.. like other seniors mentioned..

But.. think this through..
U really wana put the time and effort to do this.. right ?

If yes.. then just go ahead..
Get your study permit when you land..

Then later make the change.. You can apply for the extension of the study permit after that.. once your are thru with ur course switch n all..

And what do you think of my visa chances? my profile is:
10th, 2008 : 76% , 12th, 2010 : 85% , B.com, 2013 : 57% , IELTS : 8 Bands ( no band lower than 7) , I applied for PG diploma in Marketing at Douglas College.

Just make sure u include in ur SOP.. how much u care about making a career in marketing.. as in how it makes sense to you.. The VO needs to get convinced that this course is chosen with precision..

Also that you will come back afte rur studies.. so state ur plans on that too..

I did not bore my VO with my life stories..

Medical done, college fees paid, GIC funded on 11th but yet to receive the receipt email. So waiting for that.
