Hi,

I am planning to apply for a Canadian PR through the Nova Scotia // Express Entry Scheme since I want to work in US at the earliest possible.

Someone said that once I get the PR status, I can apply for an H1B visa in the US and there is no quota for Canadian PRs.
Please advise if this is correct and also how soon can I apply for an H1B once I get my Canadian PR status, thanks.

NAFTA job category is only for Canadian citizens not PRs?

At present, there are virtually no advantages that possessing Canadian PR status gives you in terms of the ability to work, enter or stay in the U.S.

TN status for employment is only available to Canadian and Mexican citizens, not Canadian PRs. Canadian PR status also does not grant you the ability to enter the U.S. visa-free, and gaining Canadian citizenship provides no fast track towards getting a U.S. green card, as your priority date for green card purposes is usually determined by your country of birth and not by your current country of citizenship.

If you're not interested in staying in Canada, don't waste your time with the PR process. It will take a long time to get Canadian citizenship just to be able to work in the U.S. As the other poster said, H-1Bs have no per-country quota, just a world-wide quota of 65,000 + 20,000 for advanced degree holders per year. Find a way to stay in the U.S. if you're already there.
