waiting
My daughter has applied for me but it appears that this is going to be quite a long wait. Is there any other option I can try. I am 57 years and is presently employed for the past 15years as a HR Officer. I have not been able to get through as an independent my occupation is not on the list and my age seem to be a deterrent.
I am in very good health and have quite allot to offer. can anyone tell me if there are any other options out there that I can try.

Yes, but most of the ways to get in include having a job offer. You could go visit your daughter and see if you can secure one. Then you might be able to apply under a PNP or as a skilled worker or just come in on a work permit and apply for permanent residency later. Sponsoring parents is usually slow, 3-4 years, sometimes longer.

Read about what an employer would have to do for your job offer for PNP or skilled worker (AEO) or for a work permit (LMO) here: http://www.hrsdc.gc.ca/eng/workplaceskills/foreign_workers/supperimm.shtml

Hi,

Leon is right. You can look for an employer by searching job bank and other websites, or if you have a secure job where you are and can show enough ties to your home country, you can come to Canada as a tourist/visitor and look for an employer here. Canadian employers are a little more inclined to "sponsor" someone who is already here. You can then change your status from visitor to that of a worker in a visa office outside Canada or even from your country of origin.
