Is Statement Of Purpose Required?

Hi,

I recently applied for a study permit at the VAC in LA. I only learned about the SOP (Statement of Purpose) after I mailed in my application. Is it compulsory that the SOP is included in the application? What I did include are bank documents, and a letter of explanation detailing how I intend to finance my studies.

Has anyone here managed to get a study permit approved without the SOP? Hope someone can help me out!

No - it's not compulsory. Yes - people are approved without SOPs.
