My family immigrated to Canada in 2009. All of us except my dad; are citizens. My dad couldn't be with us because he was working overseas. His pr card has also expired. If he were to quit and then re-apply for a pr card would there be problem?
Also is there a way to know one's immigration status; whether a person is still a pr or not?
Advice from anyone, especially who has experienced similar situation, is appreciated.
Liza.

He is most likely still a PR, although one that doesn't meet PR Residency Obligation (spend 2 of every 5 years in Canada). This means when he tries to enter Canada again, he could be reported and have his PR status revoked.

If he formally renounced his PR status, then your mother could sponsor him again for PR under family class.
