Is national id required?

Hey guys am hearing mixed opinions about this some were asked for the passport and national id and some are not,the reason am asking this is because am out of my home country and will have to go back if my national id is needed to renew it,am thinking maybe it is asked for candidates residing in their home country while is not asked for candidates working abroad but am not sure,any info in that regards

Some countries have national IDs, some do not. If your country has a national ID, you should provide a copy.

Just include a copy of the expired ID and an explanation (if this is the case) that you are unable to renew it at this time because you cannot do it from outside your country...

If i am asked for it in my documents checklist will they accept the fact that i didnt renew it or will i get rejection for that
