I am a Canadian citizen, employed full time, living in Canada, and the woman I want to marry is a U.S. citizen living in the U.S..

Is it worth hiring a lawyer?

That depends. If you have the patience and can dedicate the time, and have no immigration or other legal issues that will complicate matters, you can do it yourself. Many persons do. If you have possible immigration or other legal issues, perhaps it might be best to retain a lawyer to assist you with preparing the application so that you ensure you address these issues with regard to the legislation.

I agree with CharlieD10. Unless your case is complicated, save the money and DIY. It's not too difficult...

I agree with Charlie and FS, as well! Plus, you will find this forum is very supportive and has a lot of useful information! Of course, I found the forum after we fiiled. However, it still has helped us a lot! Ask a question....you'll find everyone is very supportive. Afterall, we are all after the same thing! All the best to you!
