Hello,

Can anybody please guide that should we go with a consultant for CEC class. The consultant I talked to is asking 2000$ for the application. I am wondering should I apply myself or go with a consultant. Does it really help in anyway? I have almost all the documents that are required to apply for CEC.

Also, can anybody give suggestions for a famous consultant or lawyer that maybe a little bit cheaper as well.

Thanks !

Lol - famous is unlikely to equal cheaper :-P

It's personal choice and no one can tell you either way.
Applications are not impacted regardless of whether you go for a lawyer or not. In fact CEC is supposed to be easily doable yourself if you pay attention to detail

As long as your lawyer is approved by cic (there are lots) - otherwise cic won't deal with them.

All the instructions for filing CEC application are given in the CIC website and are quite detailed.

The thing you should be most careful about is drafting your reference letter. Other than that you just need to file up forms with your personal, professional & educational details which no one knows better than you AND arrange all your documents which are listed in CIC website.

I guess 90% of people in this forum apply on their own.

And if you have any question then this forum is always there ... which also has a FREE consultant - "iam_toby" !!! ;)

And yet cec applications apparently only have a 60% acceptance rate. While the process can be simple - people still make errors.

A good consultant/lawyer can be helpful, you just need to make sure you find quality and legit reps.

$2000 is a lot!
cec application is made to be intuitive enough for a normal person to apply without lawyers.
as long as you read all instructions carefully and you meet all the requirements, there shouldn't be any problems.
you can always have a friend of family member to help you look over your forms and make sure everything is filled correctly.
note that using a lawyer or consultant does not guarantee PR. ive read forums where people used lawyers and still got denied. then that's just a waste of money.

Thanks a lot everyone. I really appreciate your responses on this issue.
