My friend who studied a 1 yr PGDM in an Ontario college moved to another province (Alberta) during his PGWP to be able to apply for the Alberta PNP because:

"ONTARIO PNP HAS BECOME EXTREMELY DIFFICULT BECAUSE OF FIXED QUOTA OF ONLY 1000 APPLICANTS PLUS IT'S WAY MORE COMPLICATED. Except for Ontario, all other provinces have immigration friendly programs, with Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Alberta and Nova Scotia having the most convenient ones."

Is this true?

Does it mean all intl. Ontario graduates have better prospects at getting PR if they move to another province to work after finishing their post-graduation courses in Ontario colls/unis?

Hi,

It's true, that Ontario PNP for graduates with job offer stream has more stringent rules. But it really dpends on indivdual circumstances and luck. Logically speaking..the Ontario govt. wouldn't have been running these immigration prgoramme... if every 1 was rushing out of the porvince. Admitted, competion is intense to get those skilled and pre-approved jobs... but it's still possible.
Even in Alberta... one will need to find skileld job..thta to in his/her own field of study..work for 6 months..and then be eligble to apply under Albera PNP.
Hope it works out for him.

But even if one gets the job, what about the 1000 cap (limit) on PNP applicants? That's the main problem I guess.

Btw tiger, is there a PNP stream for graduates without job offer for any provinces? Someone told me you can apply for PR as soon as you finish your studies even without the job under some PNP programs of certain provinces.

Thanks :)

Quebec.
Intermediate knowledge /DELF B1 level of French is needed, to apply directly for CSQ under PEQ Quebec graduate sream.

Don't hear and entierly believe what people say. Always check the offical immgrtaion websites of various provinces (PNP's)/Federal govt. (CEC) for actual up-to-date info.
Here's the link to all student immgrtaion programme.

1. In BC, you can apply for PNP on the very next day of securing a permanent full time job under NOC O/A/B/ (C/D with some exceptions). And, NOC C/D in North-East BC (9 months work experience required).

You are applying within two years of the date on which your degree was granted and from a country in which you have legal status.

All the Best.

Canadian experience class will be a good choice for permanent residency in Ontario .
Just a opinion.

Good Luck.

But what if you have only a 1 yr PGWP after completing a 1 yr Masters? You can apply for CEC only after 1 yr of work experience so by the time you're eligible to apply, you're already supposed to go back home!

Hi,

Effective December 15, 2012,qualifying foreign nationals currently in Canada who have submitted an application for permanent residence (PR) under the Federal Skilled Worker Program (FSWP), the Canadian Experience Class (CEC), the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) or the Federal Skilled Trades Program (FSTP) and who meet program eligibility requirements, may be considered for a bridging open Work Permit (WP) if their current WP will soon expire.

That list is old and it's not on an official government website.

its a nice comprehensive list of most of the PR programs and one location to find them. The links are to the official gov websites though a little out of date but if u go to the last page of the link provided u will find latest links to official websites. It gives u a nice starting point if u dont know which province ur going and decide what is best for u.
