Hi all,

my son will be 4 next July 2016, currently we are outside canada and we are planning to return to toronto middle of July.

my questions

1- how to register our son in Kindergarden prior our arrival, we dont have fixed residential address,we cant prove to the school our address with our name on it so far, unless we find one when we come in july, which I am affraid would be late since Junior KG registeration started in February 2016

2- what if our son miss to join a junior KG in Septmeber can he join in next fall term, january.

3- if he also cant join the fall term, will he be able to register for senior KG,or is it compulsary for him to start junior KG first then senior KG,in this case he will be one year late..!!

4- is KG junior and senior free in Toronto,is there any other expenses like,books,uniform,transportation....and how much approximately it costs.

best regards.

I assume you intend to enroll your son in public school. If that is indeed the case, then my responses are shown below:
1) you can not enroll your son in school until you have a house (either owned or leased) as you will need to provide your proof of address to your local school.
2) Children can be enrolled in the middle of a term. A new student just started in my daughter's class last week.
3) I believe that students can go directly into SK, but I'm not positive.
4) Yes, schooling is free in public schools. There are no other expenses other than if you child chooses to participate in extra-curricular activities. Certain schools (like Catholic schools) require uniforms, but the vast majority do not.

Why Toronto?

my community is present there in numbers,so it will be easy on my wife and kids for start.

why?,is it a bad choice or something..!, how is economy now in Toronto and Calgary? i know alberta is hit by the low oil prices and a lot of job cuts in the oil field, but what about jobs in Toronto.?

Yes Public Kindergarden,

1- what if we are staying in relative house( subletting) and the name on the house address shows our relatives not ours, what can I do in this case?, i cant rent or own a house before securing a job,me and my family will land in July and we need to look for jobs afterward,I managed to find a rent house through our relatives who sent his family abroad and he lives alone in a big house, how to prove to the school board that I live in that house.! what if bank statement or any other official letter come in my name and showing the house address of our relative..!!.

use your relative's address, find the school, call the school.
If you have legal status in Canada then only, school will consider you
but there is no harm in talking to school.
In Canada you get to pick the school. So better would be to come here first and check different schools and then decide.

If your child will be four by December 31, 2016, he or she can start Junior Kindergarten in September 2016.
If your child will be five by December 31, 2016, he or she can start Senior Kindergarten in September 2016.
If you arrive here in the middle of session then also the child can start school.

"torontosm" has given you good advice.

Kindly advice,

I am planning to land Toronto in month of August and My son has completed 4 years in 17th April, 2016. Will get admission for KG

Pls advice
