Hi, I am a credit officer in junior management level in a Government owned Bank in India with Post Graduate Diploma in Banking and Finance. My husband is flying to Kitchener soon for his on-site exposure against which I have also received Open Work Permit to work in Canada. We are planning to settle in there.

As I am willing to work in Canada in any allied fields of finance, it is really disappointing to know that landing a job is a matter of sweat, tear and blood in such a welcoming country. I really feel scared to have a thought of seeking a job in canada as I am already planning to leave my current job for the purpose of moving there.

I really have found this forum to be helpful for the wanna-be Indian immigrants with valuable inputs on success in Canada. I have some doubts on which I would like my readers to emphasize:
1. What are the preparatory home works that I can do while being in India to accelerate the process of getting hired soon? I have already joined French class.

2. Do my Indian work-ex and academic background hold any value for getting a job in Canada?

3. What kind of opportunities Kitchener can throw in? Initially I may not be able to move out of Kitchener. I wish to work in any service industry but banking/finance would be preferred one.

4. What could be the best platforms to search job? Indeed, LinkedIn? If u suggest some other, please mention.

5. Is it legally/ professionally necessary to give IELTS exam for open work permit holders to get hired? We are planning to appear for IELTS prior to apply for PR.

6. Do employers even hire knowing that the candidate has an open work permit valid for next one year?

7. What could be the basic jobs (with a li'l description) one may get while looking for their suitable jobs?

Your cooperation will be highly appreciated. Thank you.
