Which province are you planning on studying in? Some provinces like SK offer graduates to apply after a certain number of hours worked, see http://www.saskimmigrationcanada.ca/student To get your 960 hours there, you can actually start counting hours already on your off-campus work permit before you graduate. You can apply for an off-campus permit after 6 months of studies and can start working part time when you get it. When you graduate, you apply for your post-grad work permit but can keep working full time on your off-campus permit in the meantime.

Getting the hours quickly and applying as soon as you are eligible is essential to getting your immigration because if you are in the situation that your post-grad work permit expires before you are able to apply for anything and you are not able to change your post-grad permit to a regular permit, you will have to go home and may lose your chance. If you have applied under PNP and gotten your nomination before your post-grad permit expires, you will be able to get a regular work permit without needing a labour market opinion (LMO). Getting an LMO is hassle for the employer and some employers do not want to deal with it.

A one year post-grad permit is a short time to qualify. You may succeed but it would be safer for you to take a 2 year course and get a 3 year post-grad permit.
