Hi, I applied for permanent residence from within Canada as a common-law partner of a Canadian citizen in May 2015, and for an Open Work Permit in October 2015. I haven´t had an answer for neither of them yet.

Since my common-law partner lost his job, we are going back to our country, so I don´t need a permit anymore and I´m going to withdraw my application.

I´d like to know if it is possible to obtain a refund and how to do it.

Thanks!

Since it's only been 8 months, you my be entitled to a full refund for the PR. If CIC has started to assess your sponsor (unlikely) you would forfeit the $75 sponsor fee, but everything else would be refunded.

The OWP processing has probably already started, so it's unlikely that you'll get the $255 fee back.

Good luck to you both!
