Hello everyone! I am new in this forum and also quite new in the job search.
I am currently in my home country. I have applied for Canadian PR through the Skilled Worker's program but my application has been under analysis for ages (~3 years) and I have not heard back. I decided to apply directly to jobs in my field (MARITIME SHIPPING/FREIGHT in which I have over 20 years of experience) through different search engines in hopes of finding a company that will sponsor me and perhaps I will be able to apply through the Provincial Nominee Program.
I have heard from a few companies saying they do not sponsor international applicants, which led me to wonder if I am wasting my time. Do you think this is a feasible way of looking for a job and thus get sponsorship? Is there a better way to go about it or should I just stop heading down that path?
I would really really appreciate any and all of your opinions however positive or negative! Thank you so much! :)

I think it all depends on the job field you're in. If there is a demand for overseas workers in your industry, they may hire from abroad. But realistically speaking, there are lack of jobs in Canada and already a lot of unemployed people here. Some of those unemployed people are those that you would be competing with, and if they can find a PR or Canadian or post-study work permit holder for the position, they would of course prefer them.

To give you an example in banking, a top bank in Canada told me that they don't even consider people living in suburbs for a downtown position of the same city or metropolitan conurbation...so outside the country is a far shot when they don't even consider you if you live 40 kilometres away.

How come you have not heard back at all in the past 3 years? I hope you did receive some sort of confirmation about your application being in process.
