Is it possible for the canadian embassy to give extension for spousal visa?

Got my wife visa which is valid till sept 8 of this year. Is it possible to ask for an extension until december or next year?

No. I recall a post here where someone requested similarly of CIC, so they cancelled their COPR and told them to re-apply when they're really ready to settle in Canada.

I think this was a case whereby the applicant wanted to finish her education in US before "moving" to Canada. They denied her COPR and told her to apply when ready to move.
