I'm 39, an experienced algorithm (software) engineer - is it likely to get a job offer before moving to canada? Are companies usually willing to do this?
This is what an immigration agent recommended me - to work for 1 year in Canada before applying to a PNP.

I don't think anyone can comment on your chances. Many employers are not willing to go through the trouble of hiring a foreign worker. But others certainly are. You'll need to apply for jobs and hope you get lucky. There are no specific companies to target. You'll need to just apply for roles in your field and hope an employer is willing to go through the foreign worker process.

Stay away from agents. Too many scams out there. Apply for jobs on your own.

Which trouble this causes an employer except for waiting time, if I'm dealing with the visa bureaucracy via my own agent?
Should I let them know this during applicaltion (if possible) ?

I don't understand your question.

Regardless of whether you apply through an agent or on your own, there will be the same wait times for the employer. I would really recommend staying away from agents because so many of them are scammers and the jobs are fake.

The employer will need to be aware that there is work and wait time involved in getting an LMIA which they must do and then additional wait times while you apply for the work permit.

I meant an immigration agent at my country, not a recruitment agent to find a job.
