Hello, All members! As you can see I am a newbie and this is my first post here! I have heard a lot about this forum and after going through quite a few threads I truly realize that it is a great knowledge sharing and a true help center!

Well, my current situation is that I have received ITA (EE), now I have 33 days left to submit my profile for PR. I have collected all the documents including Medical, PCC, and other stuff.
Like, everybody… I have a couple of last minute questions before submission:

1. My passport is not updated...! (I mean to say… firstly I am married now but spouse name is not updated in ‘name of spouse field’ in my passport and secondly, I have a different permanent address now [residing in the new address since 5 years] and no longer reside at the address mentioned in my current passport.
So is it mandatory to update my passport now? I am submitting marriage certificate as proof of marriage and my bank passbook as has the new permanent address and I am submitting it for POF.

2. The second question., if I happen to update my passport details (address change and the inclusion of spouse's name) I am guessing I will be issued a new passport and hence passport number will change..! Will the change in passport# affect my Medical and PCC document and do I have to re-do PCC or Medical? As these 2 documents will have my 'old' passport number mentioned there!

I am quite anxious about these things and bothering me to submit my profile for PR! Any help is truly appreciated.
Thanks a lot...!

I don't think updating these fields is a mandatory requirement as long as you can prove your marriage through other means.

The reason I say so is that other countries don't even have these fields in their passports. For example, the Australian passport does not contain a field for current address or spouse's name.

Also remember that you only need to upload the biodata page of your passport. Are the two fields you are talking about on that page? If they aren't, it doesn't matter anyway.

If they are, I would probably include a letter of explanation that states that your spouse's name and address aren't updated in your passport, and that you provided other documents to substantiate the claims you made in your profile.

Hello Dexmoody,

Thank you for your response!

Yeah.. I guess even Canadian passports do not have spouse's name and address details mentioned in their passport (I could be wrong here though). Since I am from India, these details are however not on my biodata page of the passport. It is at the last page which has other details like parents name, spouse and address!

Again thanks for the help! Lets c then... :)

In that case, it's not a problem anyways. Just submit the biodata page and ignore. No LoE required.

Agree with Dexmoody!
You don't need to update passport for any of these details. Since you'll be submitting complete address history anyway, permanent address is irrelevant.

Thank you all for your support and help..!
