Is border run required?

I have a study permit that is valid until 2019. In May 2018 I visited the UK and when I re-entered Canada I specified I was a 'visitor' rather than a student on my declaration card as it is currently school break. Before I recommence my studies in July, do I need to go to the border and re-enter specifying on the declaration card that I'm a student? Or is that not required?
