Hi,

I'm current working for U.S. company with U.S. L-1B visa and has reached maximum 5 years stay in U.S. in June. That means I have to leave U.S. in June.

Only option is to relocate to Canada office for one year, but our global mobility colleague says it will take 2-3 month to get the whole process down and get work permit. Also the employment should be continuous and can't have any gap between the employment of U.S. and Canada. but there's only one month left and it seems impossible to get everything in such short time.

My question is here:
Does it need continuous employment and no gap in inter-company transfer?
but the criteria for inter-company transfer list in Canada government website is continuous employment for at least 1 year (full-time) within the previous 3 years in a similar position with the company outside Canada.

really appreciate to share your experience if you have it before.

Thanks,
chao
