Hi everyone,

I'm a small business owner looking to expand my operations into Canada. I'm researching the International Transfer program and have some questions, particularly regarding work permit for myself.

I understand the rules have changed, and now it seems you need to demonstrate an existing multinational business before expanding into Canada. My main question is: can I open a store in Canada and obtain a work permit with only opeating only one country - (non multinationla business yet)? if not, can't I hire even locally in Canada to staff the new store and operate that way?

Any insights or experiences you can share would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance for your help!

How would this be an ICT?

You can try opening a branch and hiring staff in Canada first, then gradually expand the scale to qualify for the international internal transfer category. It is advisable to consult an immigration lawyer for the most suitable direction.

IRCC is trying to prevent people from opening businesses purely to try and get a WP for themselves. This is not a great idea if the goal is a WP in Canada.

It's not enough to qualify as a multinational business.
